(Almost) Famous.

Lately I've been added by a whole bunch of new people on Twitter. This is Always Flattering, even if they're just collecting an army of slutty Ninas (for which I don't really qualify.) But the current trend is something even more puzzling. Let's take a look, shall we?

Last night was Digital LA, where I had a chance to catch up with some delightful folks (like Heather Meeker! If you haven't checked out Whrrl, you'll dig it, like yesterday's story I posted here!) and meet some new folks who I KNEW FROM THE INTERNET but had never had a chance to chat with. Also, a special shout-out to Wm. Marc Salsberry, who always indulges (and encourages!) my Girls on Film moment. And to my husband, who doesn't even blink an eye when I climb into a windowsill and make my best grrr face.  Embarrassing photos to follow.

Friend o' Slack, new dad and all-around really great guy Tomas Romero's film Not Forgotten starring Simon Baker and Paz Vega opens today in Texas, and will be Coming Soon to a Theater Near You. Not everyone who works in Hollywood is a jerk, friends, and this guy (and his lovely wife!) are proof positive.

Finally, I have found my dream job. Murphy-Goode Winery is looking for a Social Media Personality to come and live on their vineyard, learn about and drink wine, and hang out in the Sonoma Wine County for six months. They'll blog, vlog, livestream, and oh yeah, drink wine.

For six months.

At a stipend of $10,000 a month.

Pretty much exactly what I do now. Except get paid for it.

New Year's Day.

If the first day of the new year sets the tone for the 364 days that follow it, then I'm in for a long haul of friends, food, and a whole lot of wine.  As well as a fabulous husband who cooks, cleans and solves crimes.

WiIl Work for Wine!

Here's a well-know fact about me: I am no one's Target Audience. 

I don't write about "stuff." Clothes and beauty products and food and restaurants and books. I should write about these things. I use all of these things in my everyday life (the beauty products only when I venture out of the house on social occasions, otherwise it's solely Secret-Identity-Time.)  But I am dumb.

I'm not a Mommyblogger, so I don't qualify for the Wiis and Wal-Marts and the Amazon Gift Certificates. I realize that I could change that. I just need to have a baby. Or buy a baby. Or steal someone else's baby, which is the most probably part of the plan. (I once tried to do this, with less-than-successful results.)

I could even hire a baby, a couple of child actors to take cute photos of us sledding and ice skating (yes, I know this is Southern California, but this is my hiring-a-baby fantasy, so back off!)  Of course, I would fall in love with them and try to steal them from their stage parents in a court battle that ends in a big song and dance number where Evil Stage Parents and Kind, MommySlackmistress come to understand that they're not so different after all, and they will share the little munchkins. (The epilogue being that I refuse to put them through college, and even my rented kids end up resenting me. I end up dying penniless and alone, living out of the back of my pink Mini Cooper.) (If anyone steals this for a script and sells it for a million dollars I will sue.)

The one target audience I am a part of? The wine-drinking audience. In fact, I even dedicated an entire month to it.  I enjoy wine. And a cocktails are occasionally sometimes a common companion.  So when I saw that  Andre Mack of Mouton Noir Wines was following me on Twitter, I couldn't resist.

You may be saying, slackmistress, you have no shame. If you've been paying attention to the last ten years of blogging or the last four months of our show, you'd know that by now.  I'm shameless.  But I'm also kind and funny and have a decent rack, so that always helps.

Mr. Mack was incredibly gracious, and emailed me to get my address.  And yesterday evening, the Fed Ex Guy showed up with a box...

Mouton Noir Wine's 2007 Montgomery Place

I had to be physically restrained from tearing it open right there, as Will and I would like to drink this on our next show. However, this weekend, we're live at the Studio Bar and we're not doing a show the following week (Saturday, December 20th.)  So we're going to save this one for Saturday, December 27th (or for our Christmas show if we decide to do one.)  Watch this space!

And a thank you to the gracious Mr. Mack. This is so much better than stealing a baby, don't you think?
