In the past 18 months, I've been exercising regularly. I've completed numerous 5ks, 10k, a half-marathon, a 10k Merrell Mud Run, a 13 mile Tough Mudder, a Spartan Sprint (4 miles.)
I have a 5k, a half-marathon and a Super Spartan (8+ miles) coming up in the next 6-8 weeks.
I use different apps to track my progress and encourage my gym-going (Gympact, EarndIt, Runkeeper, Zombies, Run! and Fitocracy.) For the longest time, my weight training was tracked with a good ol' pen and paper notebook and my runs in Runkeeper. I wanted a way to track them all in one program, so I could go back over months worth of workouts to see what worked and what didn't for my upcoming races.
I'll be posting my workouts from Fitocracy to this new log - zombieworkouts.tumblr.com. (Note: it's workoutS because zombie workout was taken.) The points are immaterial - it's just something Fitocracy does to gamify the workout process.
Also worth noting: I am currently balancing strength workouts (plain ol' lifting), strength endurance workouts (intervals with bodyweight exercises) with straightforward endurance workouts (running.) This isn't ideal, but I stupidly signed up for a half-marathon and a Spartan Race within weeks of each other.
I am not a guru, I am not saying that this is the way you should train, or the way anyone should train. This is just the way I train. And as I compete in these various endeavors, I'll hopefully learn and adapt as I go.
